Tessa Thompson

Tessa Lynn Thompson, an artist and performer from Los Angeles was born in 1983. She is the daughter of singer-songwriter Marc Anthony Thompson and the niece of actor-musician Bobby Ramos. The family lived as a child in Los Angeles before moving to Brooklyn, New York. Her father has Afro-Panamanian heritage and her mother of Mexican as well as British Isles origins. Thompson was involved in several productions while in Santa Monica High School. After graduation, she enrolled at Santa Monica College, where she graduated with a certificate in the field of cultural anthropology. A Pasadena-based theater company performed her in a production. Boston Court Theatre, she appeared as Juliet in William Shakespeare's "Romeo as well as Juliet". She was nominated for the NAACP Theatre Award in the same season.
